The opportunity with SharePoint is to make it the central Portal for all business information and data and in order to maximize the effectiveness it becomes desirable to concentrate more and more business data to be accessible from the portal.
Beyond the standard point and click configuration SharePoint can be enhanced through development in both SharePoint Designer and through Microsoft’s other development tools. Web parts are components that can be placed on a SharePoint page to display their respective content. Bespoke or third party developments would usually be delivered as web parts to be dropped onto SharePoint pages like any other.
Flyingboat Web Parts
With Flyingboat Wealth Management Software we have built a number of SharePoint web parts – components that can be added to a SharePoint site. We make some generic functions available such as Client Records, bookkeeping information etc so that Flyingboat data can be accessible from the SharePoint site, without having to go into Flyingboat. Specific clients may wish to have certain styles of views created to suit their specific requirements.
