BRADFORD INDEX REPORTING ADDED TO PERSONNEL
Effective monitoring of staff absenteeism with new Bradford Index Report.
As part of the continued improvement of Flyingboat we are adding a further report to the Personnel sub-system to provide Bradford Index measurements for staff attendance. The Bradford Index, developed by Bradford University is a useful tool for managers as it weights absence by the number of instances of absence, not just the total number of absence days.
Thus a staff member who was absent sick for one incidence of 5 days would get a lower score than a staff member who had five instances of 1 day of sickness.
Managers can then use the scores to trigger additional return to work interviews or reviews with the employee to discuss the issues, each of which would be considered on its own merit from an objective standpoint.
