Where wireless handsets are required for a number of people and perhaps across a broad area then a full DECT solution is recommended. DECT stands for Digitally Enhanced Cordless Telephones. Where as a single cordless handset can be accommodated through an analogue based cordless handset that perhaps uses a digital connection between the base unit and the handset a complete DECT installation differs in that it is more like a mobile phone.
DECT base stations are located in a building as required to provide signal coverage throughout the building or required areas, and a number of cordless handsets can then roam throughout the building much like a mobile phone. Avaya’s DECT solution utilises Voice Over IP and hence may have additional requirements on the phone system specification and the suitability of the network
